Friday night vibe - sending this newsletter revival out, kicking the weekend off!
Hi friend!
7 months no word from me. I got busy.
Good busy. Work busy.
More inbound-opportunities-than-I-could-handle busy.
Mid last year I completely dropped my “speaking career”.
Quick reflection: While I was able to book an offsite speech for $2.5k here and there, I got bored with it.
I got bored with myself and the slapped-together message I was spreading.
It was speaking for the sake of speaking and as hard as it was to sell, it turned out to be even harder to do. Making me roll my eyes over my own message.
Yes, I did manage to become a professional Speaker - but it’s so much more fun if *being a Speaker* is the means to the ends. Not the goal of its own - as it was in my case.
Who would have thought - I guess I had to take the road to see what’s on the other end of it.
So while I was half-heartedly updating my speaking slides about the “Importance of the Human Connection In Today’s AI Tech Heavy World” (I can’t help myself, I just rolled my eyes over it again, ugh!) - I couldn’t stop talking to people around me about how they could grow their businesses.
My original calling. My first profession. My first, second, third and forth degree.
Selling my speaking became a playground for trying out all different outreach strategies and closing tactics. I was geeking out about the how and I couldn’t stop telling others what has worked for me and what they should try too.
Finding ways how to grow any and all businesses around me
became my obsession.
Don’t get the wrong impression,
this was not some newly found terra incognita for me: I’ve been working in commercial - marketing & sales related - jobs since 2010. I knew all the business plan building theory as well as the back of my hand. But for the first time ever, I didn’t only know how to come up with a damn good plan - I was actually executing on it and seeing results.
New customers. Contracts closed. Money changing hands and bigger or smaller crumbles of it landing in my account as the result.
This was good. This was working.
I shed my past skin of shying away of asking for money, asking for my fair share of the value I was delivering. I started seeing every business conversation around me as a negotiation (a fun, challenging one!) and I haven’t changed that view ever since.
Over the second half of the last year, I became a go-to-market agency owner and operator, with deliverables to deliver and new clients (and unpaid invoices) to chase.
***
Then the end of 2025 came and went, I took a two-week break from the chase, and I came back feeling that the bespoke, always custom, consulting-only revenue model has to make space for something else.
Something more repeatable.
Something where I could benefit directly from the value I can create.
I am still shaping up how my new business proposition will look like and I still work with (some) of my consulting clients.
But evolution is brewing.
I decided to resurrect my original newsletter and Bring. It. Back. The somewhat regular updates, reflections and lessons learned, my perspective sharing.
This newsletter carries an important, business-critical role going forward. I want to use it as a medium, through which I can develop further relationships with people who find me (mostly on LinkedIn) and want to learn more.
About who I am, about what I do and about what Sabotage Works (my LLC) can do for them.
Going forward my content will be probably less personal and more helpful for growing businesses and their leaders.
But if YOU are reading THIS, I know you have been with me all the way from my humble beginnings, when I was still but a scared yet determined, aspiring speaker.
And for that, please accept my warm THANK YOU from the very bottom of my heart.
Now, 2026 let’s bring it on!
xoxo, Katka
PS: If you have any personal or professional updates you’d like to share, please do ping me a reply.
This newsletter is right now deep in double digits of subscribers, so there are only handful of people reading this, even fraction of you guys will respond :).
So let’s see if there are more people interested in what I have to say by the end of 2026 :).
Challenge accepted!
